Your appointment
Please bring:
- Your Medicare card and private health insurance details, if applicable
- A current list of your medications, including prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and supplements
- Relevant medical records or referral information, if these have not already been sent to the rooms
- Results of previous investigations, such as blood tests, CT scans, MRI scans, ultrasounds or other imaging
- Previous endoscopy reports, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy or other gastrointestinal procedures
- Pathology or biopsy results from previous investigations, if available
- A list of your allergies and medication reactions
- Details of previous operations or hospital admissions, particularly those relating to your digestive system
- Your referral letter, if required and if it has not already been provided to the rooms
Your procedure
If you are having a gastroscopy, colonoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, balloon enteroscopy or another procedure, you will receive specific preparation instructions beforehand.
Please follow these instructions carefully, including any requirements about fasting, bowel preparation or medication adjustments.
If sedation or anaesthesia is planned, you will generally need someone to take you home after the procedure and may need to arrange for someone to stay with you afterwards. Your procedure instructions will explain what is required.
